Physical Feature
The Siverskoe Lake, a natural formation bordering the town of Krillov, was a large source of fishing and was a major trade transportation route along the Volga River between Novgorod (and the Baltic Sea), and the White Sea which serviced most of the inner, northern Rus territory until 1933 when the White Sea-Baltic Canal was built.

The Dniester River was one of three major rivers that connected trading routes throughout the Rus. This river was arguably the most important because it connected the Rus with Constantinople.

One of the frozen lakes of Siberia, located in the far northern part of Asian Russia. Siberia is well known for its subarctic climate and sparse population.

The Red Square in Moscow is considered the hub of the city. It holds many major buildings, such as the Kremlin and Vladimir Lenin's Tomb (on the left), the State Historical Museum (center-left), the Soviet era GUM department store (right), and St. Basil's Cathedral (photo origin point). All major roads in Moscow start here in the Red Square.

After WWII, there was a need for state financed rebuilding efforts, due to the damage caused during the German invasion. This is the example of Soviet style architecture used for apartment buildings. These massive, low quality designs litter major cities that required reconstruction.

With a massive, natural resource rich, land mass, Russia's exports are dominated by mining and forestry. Russia is ranked first in natural gas exporting while also having the biggest national reserve, and is ranked second in coal reserves. Russia is also the largest producer of oil in the world.
