Welcome
A little about myselfMy name is Chris and I am thirty one years old. I am a returning student to Arizona State University after leaving my senior year, eight years ago. I am married to a graduate of ASU's Doctorate in Nursing program, and we have two wonderful children.
I have decided to go back to ASU to finish my bachelor's degree in education and continue on into a master's degree program in educational leadership or administration. My pipe dream is to get to a point where I can help change high school curriculum to include life preparation courses, to help with the daunting transition between high school and real life. I have been lucky enough to have been born to a family that enjoys traveling. As such, since 1996 I have visited twenty four different countries across five continents around the globe. Last year I was able to add Saint Maartin to that list as a present to my wife after her graduation. The places that I consider personal highlights include Argentina, Egypt, Russia, Kenya, and Austria. I am very excited for this class, as I hope I will gain a new understanding for the places I have been, and will get some new ideas for places that I have not (yet). |
Why Russia?
For this project I have chosen to do an in depth analysis of Russia. My mother's parents were adopted during the Great Depression and to this day we can find no origin records for her or her family. My father is a second generation Russian immigrant in the U.S., and I would like to learn more about the half of my heritage that I can research. The history of the Bolshevik Revolution and the rise and fall of the Soviet Union is quite fascinating to me and I would love to know more about this country's rich history and the origin of my lineage.
